#21 The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall

Recommended to ages 9-12. In this sequel to The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits and A Very Interesting Boy, the sisters favorite aunt, Aunt Claire, arrives bearing a letter that their mother wrote before she died, encouraging their father to date. Chaos immediately erupts, the girls thinking that they will soon have a wicked stepmother. They then come up with "The Save Daddy Plan". This is a hilarious story of the Penderwick sisters and how they come up with a big scheme to "save daddy". If I had to come up with one word to describe the Penderwick family, it would definitely be loveable. Jeanne Birdsall invents the most realistic characters. This book had me laughing out loud! I think that girls would probably like this book more than boys.

  2. The first Penderwick book was okay. I just wish it had had more about Jeffery having to go to school toward the beginning of the book. That and I didn't really like one of the main characters.
