#29 The Red Blazer Girls: The Ring of Rocamadour by Michael D. Beil

Recommended to kids ages 11-13. Well it all started when Sophie St. Pierre was looking out the window in her English class. And then she screamed. That led to a series of happenings which all were very... shall we say unusual. Including a secret passageway in the church, an old woman with crazy fashion sense, one very untrustworthy housekeeper, a quirky man with a possibly fake British accent, and lots and lots more!!! In this fast-moving funny tale, four girls strive to solve riddles and puzzles along with other mysteries of life. You NEED to read this book... It will be sure to give you a good laugh. I discovered this series about a week ago, but I read the second one in the series first. It was so good that I decided to read the first one, even though I already knew how it would turn out. I enjoyed the first one almost as much as the second! I will review the second one soon. Girls will enjoy this book most.

#28 Scat by Carl Hiaasen

Recommended to kids ages 11-13. Well, I have to start out by telling you about Mrs. Starch. You see, Mrs. Starch is a biology teacher. But not just any biology teacher. She is the scariest teacher at Truman School. She hasn't missed a day of school in over 18 yrs. So when she runs back into Black Vine Swamp while there is a wildfire going on and doesn't return, Nick and Marta don't buy the story about how she is away because of a family emergency. They decide to find out just why she is away. They want to know the REAL story. But where do they start??? Back at the Black Vine Swamp? This story will appeal to both boys and girls. 1/2.

#27 Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibottson

Recommended to kids ages 11-13. Maia is a young orphan, who under the care of her new governess, Miss Minton, is sent to live with her twin cousins in Brazil. She doesn't even know the Carters, and upon hearing that they have twin girls her age, begins to dream about how amazing it will be living there. The whole entire voyage she imagines what the twins will look like, how they will act, and how much fun they will all have together. She believes that they will be the two awesome sisters that she has never had! However, Maia has no clue about what is in store for her. I will leave you to find out the rest, with just a little hint: It includes an adventure, a mystery, and a very nice storyline.  This book is really cool. There was just something about the way it was written, it made it all seem so real. I felt like Maia was standing right in front of me the whole time. I knew exactly what the twins were like, and I even felt like I had been around Mr. and Mrs. Carter. Overall, I would have to say that it is definitely a girls type of book.1/2
