#27 Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibottson

Recommended to kids ages 11-13. Maia is a young orphan, who under the care of her new governess, Miss Minton, is sent to live with her twin cousins in Brazil. She doesn't even know the Carters, and upon hearing that they have twin girls her age, begins to dream about how amazing it will be living there. The whole entire voyage she imagines what the twins will look like, how they will act, and how much fun they will all have together. She believes that they will be the two awesome sisters that she has never had! However, Maia has no clue about what is in store for her. I will leave you to find out the rest, with just a little hint: It includes an adventure, a mystery, and a very nice storyline.  This book is really cool. There was just something about the way it was written, it made it all seem so real. I felt like Maia was standing right in front of me the whole time. I knew exactly what the twins were like, and I even felt like I had been around Mr. and Mrs. Carter. Overall, I would have to say that it is definitely a girls type of book.1/2
