Recommended for ages 8-12. Based on Robert Newton Peck's life, "Soup" is a hilarious book. Like a modern Tom Sawyer, Soup is forever getting his friend Rob in all kinds of trouble. They try to stay away from the school bully, who is a girl, and can whoop anybody anytime, break some glass whipping apples, and all sorts of other things. Recommended for mostly boys, but girls will enjoy too. 1/2
